An introduction to the book:
So here it is another management book and you hate management books and all the jargon / corporate bull. Good. You are the right target audience and if you can stop hating yourself long enough to carry on reading, we may be able to get through this together.
We have all been on a million courses or been lectured by people who have been on said courses, sometimes you may change what or how you do something for a little while but eventually you will revert to type and keep being you. No matter how good your intentions, when the chips are down you are you and that is that. I don’t want to change you, I just want to enable you, I want you to focus on your best bits and be the best you that you can possibly be.
Each chapter of the book will take you through what I have learnt in my time managing people.
I want you to think about you when you are reading the book and how or if you can apply what I am saying to you or your work place. If you don’t like some of it, ignore that section and don’t just follow it blindly. Being a manager is not about being a sheep and always doing what you are told, it’s about having the confidence in your own ability to make decisions and lead. Take from this the bits that will enhance what you are already doing well and be the best at them.
I am here to help you become the best you, that you can be. I’m an Enabler.
I want you to disagree with some of the things I say and I want the book to promote conversation and debate.
